This weeks sermon is title "A walk through the Cemetery.” We will look at Genesis chapter 5 in which the genealogy from Adam to Noah is listed. The repeated statement with each of these in the list are the words, "and then they died.” It is as if we were walking through the cemetery reading epithets. But this record holds a surprise which is both instructive and deeply encouraging… Enoch walked with God!

This week the message is: What is the Value of a Soul? As we prepare for Vacation Bible School and consider all the work that goes into this effort, it is important to remember that we serve for saving of souls. The human soul is precious to God and should be precious to us. The value of our own soul should be considered as well as the many souls around us.

This weeks message completes James chapter 4 and picks up the first 12 verses of chapter 5. James here adds four warnings for those living the life of faith in Jesus Christ. Again a practical teaching that touches the realities of everyday life. James warns us about: seeking our will over God’s will, unrighteous wealth, to not tire of waiting on the Lord, and the fact that our words do matter.

The Key Principle is found in verse 7 Submit to God for submission and humility work together. The Key Promise follows in verse 8 and in verse 10 when you submit and humble yourself to God He will lift you up.

Following Jesus is more than just Bible Study. Perhaps the biggest objection that unbelievers have in following Jesus is the hypocrisy of "Christians". But those believers who are truly wise have a faith that impacts how they live with other people. This Sunday's message from James 3:13-18 will expose the hellish "wisdom" that we may be tempted to live by and exhort us to a heavenly wisdom that reveals the goodness of our Lord Jesus.

The word of God from James chapter 3 challenges us to consider a clear test or evidence of our faith. The evidence is heard in what we say. The words we use can be a powerful gift for good or a dangerous tool for destruction. Most of all our words reveal what is in our hearts. The battle to tame our tongue is one that every Christian must win if they are going to be used of God. Faith that works is working hard and to win this battle.

As we continue to study a “Faith that Works,” from the book of James, the church is called to repentance as we consider how we treat people in and out of our fellowship. James points out that we carry the name of the King therefore we are to live and display the Royal Law which is to Love our Neighbor as our selves. I say he is calling us to repentance because as we evaluate our faith by this standard we cannot help but see the reality of sin in our hearts.

This week we will the last part of the first chapter of James. This passage presents practical instruction on Faith that Works. James challenges each of us to let the Word of God change our lives. He point to the fact that if we live out what we hear from Gods word in faith then it will be heard in what we say and seen in what we do. Here the scripture gives us tool to test wether or not our faith is working.

This week pastor Tim Patterson shares with us the reality of our sin nature, and God's divine provision for our lives. We must learn to rely on Him and His consistent love and direction for our lives.
